Lacrosse

Lacrosse is a fast-paced sport that combines the speed of hockey, the strategy of soccer and the teamwork of basketball.

Youth lacrosse in Jersey City is organized through a partnership with Jersey City Lacrosse (www.jerseycitylacrosse.org) and the Department of Recreation of Jersey City.

Register for the Spring season online at: www.jerseycitylacrosse.org/register

The program is for boys and Girls from Kindergarten through eighth grade.

Children K-2 play in the Little Laxers program, which exposes kids to the game of lacrosse through drills, games and modified scrimmages. The program uses a soft ball and players only need a lacrosse stick.

In the Spring, starting in 3rd grade, boys put on equipment and play on teams in the Spring season (March through June). The teams play a full game schedule as a member the North NJ Junior Lacrosse League. The home field is at Berry Lane Park, and teams travel to play teams in NY and NJ, including tournaments. Jersey City Lacrosse also hosts the Chilltown Classic boys lacrosse tournament.

The girls program is similar, playing in the Spring on teams beginning in 3rd grade. The girls program is a member of the Jersey Girls Lacrosse Association league.

In the Fall, the older boys play a short season.

In the winter, kids can enjoy several free introductory clinics held across Jersey City. Visit www.jerseycitylacrosse.org for updates and details.

The goal of Jersey City Lacrosse, an all-volunteer 501c3 organization, is to ensure that any child who wants to play lacrosse has that opportunity. As such, equipment loans and scholarships are available.
