STATE SENIOR CITIZEN FARMERS MARKET VOUCHERS
The Office of Senior Affairs distributes State Senior Citizens Farmers Market vouchers to lower income seniors. Be advised that the Office only receives a limited number of vouchers and works to distribute them fairly throughout the community. The Office has worked with the State to obtain additional vouchers which are not being used in other Counties. For the 2013 Farmers Market season, the Office distributed $70,000 in Vouchers which were spent at Farmers Markets.
SENIOR ID CARDS
We create Senior Photo Identification cards for your group or organization. Each card features a photo, contact and medical information, and emergency contact information for your group or organization. You can come to Suite D2 at 199 Summit Avenue to obtain an ID card every Wednesday between 9:00AM and 1:00PM. Please call Carol Pasquale at (201) 547-5750 for more information.
OUTREACH TO SENIOR ORGANIZATIONS
The Senior Affairs staff maintains contact with 80+ senior citizen organizations who meet within Jersey City. The Office helps these organizations plan their individual events and programs as well as provide transportation for trips, speakers for meetings, and information on other senior citizen issues or programs and citywide activities and events.
The Division of Senior Affairs is in the process of establishing a list of speakers available to make presentations to senior groups. These speakers may be from various City agencies, and will include many health related topics as coordinated through Health & Human Services’ Partnership for a Healthier Jersey City.
We will be a clearinghouse for all senior events and will comprise a schedule of all available activities and events provided by the Department of Recreation, Department of Health & Human Services, the two senior centers, and any other non-profit.
To receive a copy of the calendar, please call (201) 547-5750. To be put on a regular weekly mailing of calendar updates please send your email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
